PhoneBook

PhoneBook is an electronic phone book app for Android, listed in the Tools category, that helps you manage your contacts. According to its listing, it identifies incoming calls from people already saved in your contacts and gives you information about unfamiliar callers so you can decide whether to answer.

Caller popups and call warnings

When an unknown call arrives, PhoneBook can display a popup window with information about the caller. The listing says this helps you search for the number before answering. The app also shows warning popups when a call comes from a number on your block list or a number identified as a spammer, which the listing presents as a way to avoid unwanted or potentially harmful calls.

Number search and unknown call list

You can look up any mobile number by typing it into the search box, or by selecting a number from the unknown call log or your contacts list inside the app. PhoneBook also keeps a list of incoming calls that are not in your contacts, so you can check those numbers before deciding whether to save them.

Name update alerts

The app can notify you when new names appear in PhoneBook for your number. The listing recommends enabling notifications for this feature, which it describes as a way to stay informed about changes related to your contacts and incoming calls. The listing also mentions displaying your contacts list and searching for alternative names for those contacts, but it does not explain how those alternative names are sourced.

Other stated capabilities

The app's FAQ states that you can back up and restore contacts, that PhoneBook supports multiple languages, that it includes a tool for finding and merging duplicate contacts, and that it offers a dark mode. The description also says the app has a security system intended to protect personal information and that it is free with no hidden charges. These are the developer's stated claims and have not been independently verified here.
