BitTorrent

BitTorrent is a torrent downloader for obtaining files from torrent links or torrent files shared with you. It brings download controls, selective file choices, and access to downloaded media together in one app.

Starting a torrent download

To begin with a torrent link, find the resource you want and choose BitTorrent from the available download tools. The app then opens and displays the file as it downloads. You can also open a torrent file that someone has shared with you. The source notes that download speed can depend on the number of seeds available for a torrent, so the app’s stated lack of a speed limit does not guarantee a particular transfer rate.

Choose files and manage data use

A torrent can contain several files, and BitTorrent lets you select the ones you want to download rather than taking every item in the torrent. This gives you control over what is saved and can help limit the storage used by the download. The app also includes a Wi-Fi-only mode, which is intended to keep downloads from using mobile data. These controls address two separate choices: which content to retrieve and which connection to use.

Access downloaded music and video

Downloaded audio and video can be accessed through the app’s integrated media library, with music and video players built in. This means you can browse and play supported downloaded media within BitTorrent rather than needing to switch to another application for playback. The source describes the interface as simple and designed for touchscreen use, with library access and downloading handled within the same app.

Additional control

An automatic shutdown option is listed as a Pro version feature. The source does not provide further details about how that option works. Together, the described features cover starting torrent downloads, choosing individual files, restricting downloads to Wi-Fi, and accessing downloaded media.
