Whympr : Mountain and Outdoor

Whympr : Mountain and Outdoor is an Android app for finding routes and preparing for mountain and outdoor activities. It describes a worldwide collection of more than 350,000 routes, alongside maps and information about conditions.

What kinds of routes and activities can I explore?

The app's route collection draws on platforms including Skitour and Camptocamp. Routes can be filtered by activity and difficulty, with points of interest also mentioned as a filter. This can help users narrow the available routes according to the activity and challenge they are considering.

What maps and route-planning controls are available?

Whympr provides access to topographic maps including IGN, SwissTopo and USGS, as well as a worldwide Whympr outdoor map. The description says the maps can show slope inclinations. Users can create and save tracks, and the listed Premium features include track creation with elevation and distance calculations. Routes can also be viewed in 3D.

Can I check weather and mountain conditions?

The app includes mountain weather forecasts, avalanche reports and recent terrain-condition information shared by its community. Avalanche reports are described as updated daily. Peak identification and sensitive-zone filters are also listed; the latter are intended to help users take environmentally sensitive areas into account.

What does Premium add, and what can I use offline?

The source describes a free base app and a Premium version available by subscription. Premium features include offline mode, advanced route filters, detailed weather conditions and GPS track recording. The description also says routes can be downloaded for offline viewing, which may be useful where an internet connection is limited. It does not specify the app's minimum Android version.
